Listen to Stories of Veteran Electricity Personnel in 40 Years of Reform and Opening-up

On September 5, 2018, as the Chinese people celebrated the 69th anniversary of the founding of the PRC, CPC Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization organized a seminar titled "A fresh start from reform and opening-up, a new journey to 'made in Shanghai'" for retired and veteran cadres in the electricity sector of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization Party Committee system to celebrate the National Day and the 40th anniversary of reform and opening-up. A total of 350 people including leaders of Shanghai-based electricity companies, representatives of retired and veteran cadres, representatives of veteran cadres workers and outstanding youth representatives attended the seminar.



The seminar recalled the development and growth process of electricity industry in Shanghai by means of video data, video interview, recital and on-the-spot interview. The elderly retired and veteran comrades present at the meeting started from their own work experiences, and told their stories of starting business and work during the 40 years of reform and opening-up.



The elderly comrades introduced the development path of electricity industry in Shanghai as the technology turned from lagging behind to leading the world and the equipment from import to gradual export. They noted that the beautiful transformation of Shanghai's electricity industry marked the result of generations of electricity workers following the trend of reform and opening-up, working diligently, starting business arduously, making contributions bravely and pursuing excellence, and was also attributed to meeting the demand of socialist market economy, adapting to market competition and striving to embark on a new journey of electricity industry. They called on all the electricity personnel to continue to tell good stories of electricity industry in Shanghai, and contribute positive energy to a more beautiful Shanghai, enhancing the brand of "made in Shanghai" and the future of Shanghai's electricity industry.



SEP Chairman and Party Secretary Wang Yundan told the reporter that Shanghai, the first city to have electricity in China, has acquired ten times development over the 40 years of reform and opening-up. Shanghai's electricity industry, from a follower in the beginning to an innovator and creator, has tracked out a path of introduction, digestion, absorption, innovation and re-innovation in the process of reform and opening-up.



The youth representatives present at the meeting felt greatly moved by the enterprising and pioneering spirit of the old generation of electricity workers. They vowed to inherit and carry forward the hardworking spirit of the old generation, and contribute the youth power of the young generation of electricity workers to the industrial development in Shanghai.
