JRJ.com: New Maltese Minister for Energy and Water Management Visits SEP

From August 7-11, 2017, Joe Mizzi, the new Minister for Energy and Water Management of Malta, led a delegation of Enemalta PLC board members and senior officials to Shanghai to meet with SEP Chairman Wang Yundan and attend the annual strategy meeting and shareholders' meeting of Enemalta. SEP CFO Chen Wenhao participated in the event.


Wang welcomed the visit of Mizzi and his delegation, reviewed the process of package energy cooperation project jointly promoted by SEP and Maltese Energy Ministry since 2013, and expressed appreciation to the ministry for its support and assistance provided to ensure the project success on behalf of SEP.


Mizzi highly affirmed Malta Energy Cooperation Project for its significant contributions to the national economy and the people's livelihood of Malta. He noted that SEP leveraged its advantages in technology, management and capital to improve the power grid, power plant, new energy and energy service industries, turning Enemalta around with the reliability, stability and safety of Malta's national grid enhanced substantially. He expressed confidence in forging ahead with the project, as the cooperation between SEP and Malta based on "mutual benefit, win-win, mutual trust and reciprocity" will ensure the sustainable development of the project.


Both sides held in-depth exchanges on the development direction of the energy investment package in Malta, and reached consensus in a series of cooperation including Montenegro wind power project and PV power project development, commercial development of land owned by Enemalta, and further developing energy services.


On the same day, Chen Wenhao accompanied Mizzi and his delegation on the visit to Caojing Power Plant and Caojing Cogeneration. At Caojing Power Plant, Mizzi listened to the general manager's introduction to the general situation of the power plant's units and energy conservation and emission reduction carried out in recent years. At Caojing Cogeneration, Mizzi and his delegation visited the sewage treatment system, and learned about the achievements made in providing highly-efficient and clean energy for Shanghai Chemical Industry Park. Mizzi spoke highly of the above two power plants, which are also regarded as two of the most outstanding power plants under SEP, for their contributions to clean energy and environmental protection by way of highly-efficient and state-of-the-art power generation technology.


During his visit, Mizzi also attended the annual shareholders' meeting of Enemalta, inspected Yangshupu Power Plant and listened to the special-topic report on retrofitting the old power plant.


The leaders of SEP related departments and subsidiaries participated in the event.
