SEP Donates Clothing to Heroes in Harm's Way

On March 4, 2020, SEP held a simple and meaningful donation ceremony in the lobby of the headquarters building. On behalf of the Party Committee of the company, Wang Yundan donated the epidemic prevention materials purchased with the donations by the staff to 1,639 medical workers sent from Shanghai to Hubei province. Behind these materials is the strong leadership of SPIC Party Leadership Group and SEP Party Committee as well as the love of more than 5,700 SEP cadres and employees.

Not long ago, the company actively responded to the call of SPIC Party Leadership Group, and encouraged vast numbers of cadres and staff to highlight the responsibility of the central SOE employees and contribute to the people's war against the virus on a voluntary basis while continuing to improve the epidemic prevention and resumption of work and production. With over 5,700 employees offering their helping hands and love, the company raised a total of RMB 841,500 within just two days. It is worth mentioning that in addition to the current staff members, many retired veteran cadres, foreign employees from Turkey, Malta, Greece, Pakistan, Serbia and other countries, and even those workers from outsourced companies took the initiative to participate in the donation after hearing about the news. "Wish the Chinese people a total victory soon!" "I just want to do my bit for it!" Those words represent their common aspirations.

In order to complete this philanthropic project, SEP Party Committee answered the call of Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, followed the leadership of CPC Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, and got in touch with the person in charge of the Shanghai medical team sent to Wuhan, capital of Hubei and epicenter of the novel coronavirus outbreak. Through a telephone conversation with the person in charge, the company learned that the Shanghai medics lacked spring clothing as the weather turned warms in Wuhan, and determined to purchase 2,000 spring jackets for them immediately. However, the company contacted a number of suppliers, all of whom turned down the order due to the shortage of raw materials.

Despite various difficulties, the SEP staff continued to adhere to the "three thousands" hardworking spirit, and went all out to seek qualified suppliers. Thanks to the powerful support and help of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, the company has contacted some well-known domestic manufacturers of daily clothing finally. With the active cooperation of these units, SEP Corporate Culture Department, Human Resources Department, Audit and Internal Control Department and Discipline Inspection Office completed the work of style selection, field research, order delivery, receiving and acceptance within just four days.

Having received the goods, how to send them to the hands of front-line medical workers in the epidemic area quickly and accurately became a new problem. A team of 20 staff from five SEP departments including General Office, Human Resources Department, Corporate Culture Department, Discipline Inspection Office and Legal Service Shared Center, and SEP New Energy and logistics service personnel conducted a brainstorm working out a number of golden ideas. After 15 hours of continuous teamwork, they finished checking, sorting, packing and crating of 1,314 kilograms of materials in 73 parcels to 20 delivery places. In order to ensure the accuracy of clothing style and size, the team members in charge of checking and sorting took 18,000 steps aggregately in two meeting rooms.

Witnessed by the Shanghai Branch, Red Cross Society of China, 73 parcels were loaded and shipped to Wuhan through the special logistics channel for epidemic prevention materials by SF Express, reached the hands of the medics on March 6.

"Salute to you, lifesavers!" "United as one, let's fight the epidemic together!" "Love is boundless. Wish you a triumphant return!" Those messages written on the packages conveyed the best wishes of all the SEP staff towards Shanghai medical workers on the front line against COVID-19 in Hubei province. We hope those pioneers battling the epidemic could put on the spring clothes soon and greet the arrival of spring.
